Autonomous UAV Path Planning using Modified PSO for UAV-Assisted Wireless Networks

Recently, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have attained considerable attention for providing reliable and cost-effective communication due to the flexibility of deployment line sight (LoS) propagation. Efficient UAV path planning is one key aspects that need be addressed minimize energy consumption satisfy rate requirements user. Thus, in this work, we propose a novel framework utilizes modified Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm support In proposed framework, problem joint formulated improve instantaneous sum order solve formulation, involves two steps. Initially, probability used obtain an optimal destination location at which LoS with user offers required downlink rate. Following that, PSO find most energy-efficient from source destination. Through experiments, show provides three-dimensional (3D) complex environment, has ability avoid obstacles path. addition, it minimizes travel time improves as compared state-of-the-art methods. Finally, performance tested three different scenarios.
